Vinnie Ream, famous 19th century sculptress,
created the statue of Abraham Lincoln that stands in the Rotunda
of our nation's capitol. She was a child prodigy and began the
sculpture at the age of 16. She was the first female to receive
a government commission.
Castor's hometown, of Vinita Oklahoma was named in honor of Vinnie
Ream. Castor maintains an aritist-in-residence studio in the historic
Vinnie Ream cultural center in Vinita.
